NNPP ADVISES THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AGAINST DECLARATION OF STATE OF EMERGENCY IN ANAMBRA STATE AHEAD OF A CRUCIAL ELECTION
The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has advised the federal government of Nigeria against declaration of state of emergency in Anambra State ahead of the November 6 gubernatorial election as it will not only further cast dent on this administration, but it will also further affect the image of Nigeria before the international community.
The party notes that if there has not been emergency in the states badly ravaged by Boko Haram insurgency, then declaring such less than one month to a crucial gubernatorial election in a state that the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) at federal level has been loosing repeatedly will be taken as political manipulation to use the military to forcefully capture the state. Hence, it will not only bring further disrepute to APC it will further batter the image of Nigeria before the international community.
In the light of the above, the NNPP urges the federal government to adopt other means to handle the security situation in Anambra State and other states.
In conclusion, the NNPP uses this opportunity to call for a free and fair election in Anambra State so that whoever will emerge as the next governor of the state will be by the wishes of the good people of Anambra State as will be expressed through their voting.
