THE NEW NIGERIA PEOPLE’S PARTY (NNPP) CONDEMNS ATTACK ON UNARMED PEACEFUL PROTESTERS
The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) condemns in strong terms the shooting of live bullets at Nigerians youths who were exercising their right to express themselves against what they perceive as abnormality in the government, leading to the gruesome murder of yet to be ascertained number of these vibrant young Nigerians with many sustain various degrees of injuries.
NNPP notes that it’s also disheartening that the men of the Nigerian Army that carried out the genocide failed to respect the sacred symbol of our beloved country, as they killed unarmed youths that were holding our National flags as at the moment they rained live bullets on them.
The party therefore calls on the president, the Chief of Army Staff, the Inspector General of Police and other Services Chiefs to instruct their uniformed men to abide by the rules of engagement in handling issues, then apologise to Nigerians, bring to book those behind the dastardly acts and as a matter of urgency address the issues raised by the protesters to avoid further escalation of the already terrible situation.
In conclusion, NNPP advises those in authority at different levels in Nigeria to respect the sanctity of human life and always remember that the entire world is watching the events unfolding in Nigeria as the world is now a global village.
